Garry DerkenneUniting
Garry’s strengths are in strategic leadership. These have been employed with a large regional organisation in Western Sydney (Chair of Strategy Committee) as well as the community services arm of the Uniting Church. He has extensive experience with Adaptive Leadership as well as Community Organising. In that regard in 2014 he co-chaired, with Anita Tang of the Cancer Council, a city wide Assembly of more than 1000 people at Sydney Town Hall that put Affordable Housing onto the State and National political agenda.
In 2014 he was one of five Uniting Church delegates to the international 70th Anniversary Conference for Community Organising and Faith Organisations convened by the Industrial Areas Foundation in Chicago. In 2015 Garry was part of a delegation to Hong Kong Citizens, teaching and learning, with them in the year following the Umbrella Revolution. Garry is currently involved in developing a Hunter Community Alliance. He is a Board Member of Margaret Jurd College and Chair of Adamstown Uniting Church Council; as well as being a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. |
