Beyond Zero Emissions
From a young age Ben Saxon has been exposed to the environmental plights threating future generations. Whether travelling to forest blockade areas with his sister, volunteering with Surfrider Newcastle or travelling across the South Pacific in a sailboat with the Ocean Ambassadors educating locals on plastic pollution.
Growing up in Newcastle, enjoying the beautiful beaches and surrounds, Ben has seen the town transform from blue collar industry, towards world leading innovation. The industrial boom gave Ben an opportunity to gain an electrical trade and while appreciated, it was seen through this experience that the regions’ coal-based roots were not sustainable, both environmentally and financially. This led Ben to divert from the trade and undertake a degree in renewable energy and electrical engineering.
Through his studies he learnt of Beyond Zero Emissions, and their practical approach to technical and science-based solutions for a zero-carbon future. Ben is a co-leader of BZE Newcastle, and strongly believes we are entering a new era of renewable energy production with reduced carbon emissions.
