Callen is a ​Retained Firefighter for Fire + Rescue NSW, and 
graduated in a Bachelor of Development Studies, majoring in Economic Development and Globalisation.
​
Callen was the recipient of City of Newcastle's "Community Place Making Grant", establishing the "Sustainable Maryland" project
